Some Vintage Easter Freebies

These were never used and are from my personal collection of postcards. They have such sweet images for Easter, reminding me how much fun Easter was when we were kids. Feel free to use them in your projects!!

Free Birdie Clipart

A lovely image of a robin on a pussywillow branch.

I think they would make lovely cards, they almost look like a stamp.

Yesterday, I was lucky to get invited on a shopping outing with my friend Barb (thanks Barbie!). She took me to a couple of little towns not far from Calgary...Okotoks and High River. Both were charming and full great shops, some which used to be in Calgary a long time ago, but long before I had any interest in decorating and second hand. Anyhow, I managed to pick up quite a few fun items at the thrift store (which I will eventually post on here once I've re-finished them), a great vintage look tin sign and a little rooster at another cute store. I also got this Audubon Society 1952 booklet called "Adventures for Audubon Junior Members". Anyhow, it has a lot of really great images that I think are appropriate for spring and Easter for those who celebrate.

Enjoy and feel free to use the images for your own projects, remember to click on the image to get the higher resolution for saving to your files.

Cheers and have a wonderful Sunday!

A Telegram Postcard for PFF!

I'm not sure if you l can read the back, but it was sent to a Miss Mabel Lamp, March 5, 1910 at 7:30 am. The author, M.H. (also a Mabel) writes to ask Miss Mabel to meet at a show,....back when very few people had phones, and postcards or telegrams were the fastest way to reach someone. I found it lovely that the author asks to make sure you write back, "make sure you answer this postal and if not, make sure and meet me". From the sounds of it, Mabel will take the quarter past 6 train and will reach her destination (South Schenectady, NY) by 7 o'clock. I looked the places up on google and found they are about 30km apart, so that makes sense. Ballstone Spa looks like a charming little place, with a National Bottle Museum!

Hope all is well with everyone today. It's looking like a gorgeous day out there, can't wait to get started!
Enjoy PFF, and don't forget to head over to The Best Hearts Are Crunchy to see who else has linked a postcard this Friday!

Happy PFF!!

Here's another from my personal collection. Isn't it sweet? I love that it is just a simple birthday wish, to Earnest Baumann of Fairview, Mass. It was posted in 1915, by Elsie and the rest. The picture I took of it doesn't do justice to how pretty the carnations are on the card, or that the corner flowers are actually embossed too, the postcard actually has a lot of texture.
Anyhow, enjoy and happy FPP!!

Cheers,
Viviana

Olympic Fever

So sorry, I'm not blogging much this week, I have caught the Winter Olympic Fever and am suffering with a bad case of "not enough time to watch all the events I want to" syndrome. Apparently I have kids to make lunches for, kids to take to school and pick up, laundry, cleaning... all to be fitted in between Curling competitions, Hockey games, Ski Jumping and Giant Slalom. Good thing Snowboard Half Pipe is done and the rest of the Nordic Combined is not until next week because I'm failing badly as Keeper of the Home. Now would be a good time to be cloned!!
If I get anything made, besides the bed, you'll all be the first to know.
In the mean time, stay healthy, happy and have fun watching the Olympics too!

Cheers,
Viviana

Lovely Bunch for PFF

For a Mrs. Stella Bardwell, 1910, from her Aunt Anna, a very sweet and kind letter. What I do love most is the time people took back then to write each other, because not everyone had a phone, there was no internet and this really was text messaging....I wish we were as civilized!!

Have a lovely PFF day! BTW, you have to excuse the Thursday post for a PFF, I will be away from the computer tomorrow, so I have to do it earlier. Thanks for looking!!!

Frosty Tips and Blue Sky=Beautiful!

Lines: The cold earth slept below

by Percy Bysshe Shelley
The cold earth slept below;
Above the cold sky shone;
And all around,
With a chilling sound,
From caves of ice and fields of snow
The breath of night like death did flow
Beneath the sinking moon.

The wintry hedge was black;
The green grass was not seen;
The birds did rest
On the bare thorn’s breast,
Whose roots, beside the pathway track,
Had bound their folds o’er many a crack
Which the frost had made between.

Enjoying winter,

What a little Tremcald Does for The Heart!

I just had to share this!! Both were thrift store finds for $2 a piece, but both in exactly the the wrong colours of what I like for my room, gold and burgundy makes me queasy (kidding, I don't mind, just not in my room)!

So I got my trusty can of pink Tremclad, my face mask and my new paint box (an old box cut up to be a backsplash) and got to work.

At first I worried the pink was too light and maybe I should have primed it, but Tremclad came through for me, and after 3 coats, they both look brand new and ready to be hung up in my room.

The poem in the frame is a dedication to my son, who is a blessing and a wonderful little angel!

Lives are for living
I live for your
Dreams are for dreaming
I dream for you
Hearts are for beating
Mine beats for you
Angels are for keeping.
Can I keep you?

Have a wonderful day, full of love and lots of pink!

Cheers,
Viviana

My First Postcard Friday

I've acquired a very small collection of simple postcards, some have been mailed, some have been written on and some were never used, all are lovely in their own way. This is the first of them, it is stamped March 9, 1907 and it is addressed to a Miss Bessie Roue, Marshallton, Del.
This is the first time I join in on postcard Friday, yay! I will try to have a new one for you every Friday.

Cheers and have a great night!
