Got Some Cards Done, Finally!

The fact that I have been busy making cards can only mean one thing, winter is coming....oh and having a cold means I'm housebound only motivated to create, not clean or do housework....yeah!

It feels good, it makes me happy!

Happy Spring GIVEAWAY for the crafty types!

So, I told you all I was going to do a giveaway when I hit 100 followers...well I'm at 109 followers!! I was so busy with Birthday's and St. Patrick's and life, that I just only realized I have surpassed the 100 mark.

So I'm giving away a wonderful kit I've just put together, full of yummy shabby chic/vintage style goodness for your crafting pleasures. It's made up of K and Co papers, a wine paper bag album, lots of trim consisting of 3 colours of seam binding, 3 kinds of lace, lots of die cuts, photo corners, buttons, tags, 2 sheets of ephemera, a dozen mini paper roses in pink and cream, and some other embellishments, as you can see in the pictures. You get everything in the picture anyhow, though I may have missed mentioning a few items, it is a kit full of delicious crafty goodness! I also forgot and so it's not pictured, there are also some paper borders and a tea dyed hand crocheted doily in the mix!

A Telegram Postcard for PFF!

I'm not sure if you l can read the back, but it was sent to a Miss Mabel Lamp, March 5, 1910 at 7:30 am. The author, M.H. (also a Mabel) writes to ask Miss Mabel to meet at a show,....back when very few people had phones, and postcards or telegrams were the fastest way to reach someone. I found it lovely that the author asks to make sure you write back, "make sure you answer this postal and if not, make sure and meet me". From the sounds of it, Mabel will take the quarter past 6 train and will reach her destination (South Schenectady, NY) by 7 o'clock. I looked the places up on google and found they are about 30km apart, so that makes sense. Ballstone Spa looks like a charming little place, with a National Bottle Museum!

Isn't he a dream?? Oh that picture sure made me laugh out loud, so much so that my son came upstairs to see what was so funny....

I just remembered you haven't seen this yet!!

Our Christmas cards we sent out this year, isn't he lovely. That is my first attempt at a collage card, I haven't really done many, but I love browsing through blogs such as Last Door Down The Hall, Cemerony Share, Sugar Lump Studios and Aletered Geisha's Crafty Musings to name a few.
I was going to use a vintage picture because there is so many cute ones out there, but instead I used a picture we took early this winter, that's my son out in our front yard. I printed it out in sepia, onto coverstock, and printed out wings, heat embossed crowns. I used a reduced printout of vintage sheet music from Graphics Fairy. With a little rinbbon and a quick stamp, Voila!!
Now, because he is only 5, he let me do this, because I am sure any older and he'd probably think I was nuts putting angel wings and a crown on him, for now he thought it was so cute, and didn't mind the world looking at it.
I did keep one and framed it, so every year from here on we can bring it out during the winter!!

Sharing Images from "The Last Door Down The Hall"

The Last Door Down the Hall is one of my favourite places to go when I have time. This blog is not just full of inpiration, she has so many wonderful vintage images, photos and postcards, I just can't get enough. I'm sharing some of the images she has shared with us from a couple years ago, but like with any vintage piece, they are as beautiful today as they were 2 years ago when she first posted them. In keeping with the mood of the season, I thought I'd share this lovely little holly sprig. I love it because it has a wild rose on it, I live in Alberta, Canada, and the provincial flower is the wild rose (our license plates read "Wild Rose Country"). I am using it on our Christmas cards, which I will post as soon as I am done.

I'm thinking that maybe I should have started on them sooner, but the idea didn't really blossom until a few days ago, when my son and I were outside and I kept on thinking of all those little sepia pictures done in a studio with fake snow, and here we have tonnes of the real stuff to work with. Anyhow, I'll leave it at that, and I'll post it when I'm finished.

This next picture is so wonderful, I don;t even know how to express how I feel about it. The artists name is Billy DeVorss. Who wouldn't want to pose for him? Oh, if only he could paint me looking so stunningly beautiful!



This last one is for all of you who even though it is Christmas season, are still making and creating for other reasons too.

Sharing some Images,

I just wanted to share with you all a tiny sampling of some of the vintage images I have collected in the past year. I use them for cards, tags, ATC's and tons of other altered art projects.

The images are from several different blogs I follow. The images are free to be used for your projects and altered art to sell, but please don not sell them individually or as part of a group of digital images, that would be rude. If you do use them, let us see a picture of your work too! I will add a post with a bunch of the links to all the blogs and sites I know that have freebies of really gorgeous vintage images. There are tons out there, you just have to spend hours a day looking for them! I wanted to share this with you all, doesn't it look adorable? I used to have a glass ball hanging on that brass thingy, but I traded it in for something much sweeter, what do you think?

I am always amazed when I make something from a tutorial and it actually turns out better than I imagined, because I really have a hadr time sticking to specific instructions. However, I love the resuls of this little box, for which I got the tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers (also on YouTube) on making a Top Note Die Box. I don't own a ScorPal, so I used my scoring blade on my sling cropping thingy, and it worked perfectly. The tutorial video is great, and takes you step by step through the making of the box and embellishing it. As always, I changed a couple of things, to suit my liking, and they turned out exceptionally well.




Some of the boxes will hold 3 tea lights, which I will include with those great bowls I showed you all in one of my other postings. I think they look great and hopefully, will be kept for storing the tea lights or other Christmas trinkets people like to keep in mini boxes.


Recognize these? Prima flower jars, I wondered what to do with so many and I wanted to recycle them, find them a new use and well....they turned out perfect for mini All-Sorts, which I plan to give to the mail lady, the office Manager where I live, and the maintenance guy too. I will post a couple more pics when I'm done my other projects.
