An Amazing Find At the Queensland Craft Fair!
OK, I'm not a glass connoisseur and I don't normally buy really pricey gifts for family with the exception of my son... but I think I found a treasure with the purchaes I made this weekend at the craft fair. I was there as a vendor for my other business (Sand Magic Creations), but I also wanted to shop a bit, get my handmade Christmas stuff bought up.
I saw this one table, lots of people stopping by it, well lets just say, it was busier than most with how sales are going this year.
Anyhow, long story short, I bought 7 glass bowls for less than $70, and they are gorgeous! I am sure that in a boutique at the mall the small one would probably sell for $30-40 and the larger ones for $60-70, so I think I got a great deal. That's why I love craft fairs!
Ok, the pictures do not do them justice really, because once you get a candle in there they look incredible (I used a tealight for sizing, but could not find a match in the house to light it with!!).
Anyhow, what do you think?? I love how the dark brown melts into the green and also the rainbow effect on the sandblasted one.
I love them all, so now I don't know wether I will part with any of them. So much for getting the Christmas shopping out of the way!

Scrapshotz Fall Crop, very productive!!
This fall, I was lucky enough to get to attend another crop hosted by Scraphshotz, here in Calgary. As these events usually go, I get lots of talking done, tons of ideas, I buy lots of stuff, and make nothing (atleast get nothing finished).
For the first time, I was a woman with a vision and on a mission. I wanted to get a few gifts done for family members and get some CD tins done for sending picture CD's to the 3 grandmas, instead of making albums which cost way too much to ship, everyone likes digital these days.
My friend Crystal signed up too, so she came down from Edmonton for the event.
She was working on getting some tags done for the gifts she is giving to her co-workers, you can tell it's a labour of love, she had about 6083486 of these tiny reindeer to colour! I'm not big into the colouring.....
That's us, early enough to still look perky since the crop went from 11 am until midnight(we stuck it out till the end too). We got pizza for dinner and a second wind long enough to get things accomplished!
That's Crystal, Lizette and Me!
I got 3 CD tins finished, got 4 Hot Cocoa/Tea Tins done too, I squeezed in an alcohol inked acrylic album (for our mini albums collection), and last but not least 3 Christmas cards and 2 wrapped chocolate bars too.
I actually did tons of stamping, and heat embossing, and I did some die cuts too, all with stamps and dies I don't own (borrowed from some of the wonderful ladies attending the crop). I had a great time and came home with a great little door prize, a light Merry go Round light box!!!
As forCrystal and her 60 reindeer, I think she's still there adding stickles to the pile!

Shopping Handmade for a 5 year Old Boy
Some things I just cannot make myself, that being said, I love handmade gifts. I like the thoughtfulness of giving and receiving such gifts, and I appreciate the work involved in creating and crafting.
Now I am stumped! I already got my son a pair of handmade oven mitts from My Cute Idea on ETSY. I also managed to find him a matching apron at one of the fall fairs here in Calgary. Now I'm stumped because I would love to get him something else, but I want it to be unique and handmade, and something he will treasure hopefully forever.
Here he is, the little man in my life,
So I need your help, if you have any suggestions, own a store online or know of a site with handmade stuff that would be suitable for a 5 year old, leave me a comment with the link or some info, or convo me on ETSY, so I can take a look. Thanks for all your help!

Creating Frenzy, I love Christmas Time!
I've been in a 'creation frenzy' for the past few weeks, and this is just a tiny bit of all the things I've been working on. I honestly need a real workshop, my diningroom table is no longer good enough!
In am working on tons of Christmas Cards, most of which don't make it to ETSY because I do sell them locally and some that sell as soon as I list so we don't get to enjoy them for long. I made this one, snow globe card, because we never had a snow globe when we were kids, but I've always been fascinated by them. This card gives me a nostalgic feeling.
This little brooch was inspired by all my purses. I have these little charms, but I wanted to use them in a less traditional way, not on a necklace atleast. I am working on a few more with different colours of leather, which I die cut, thus achieving the prefect base for showing off the little gems!
The cuff and matching ring are an experiment in creation. I started making leather covered buttons because I couldn't find anyone who sold them at a reasonable price. I made a ring and then I thought a matching bracelet would be hot. This is the result, and I love it. I mostly wear charm bracelets, which dangle and get tangled and sometimes just don't finish a look quite like I want them to. This cuff looks great and I love that it looks rocker while still being sexy and soft!
I discovered a couple of really great blogs, with ideas and inspiration galore. The first is "Just Something I Made" where I got the patterns for some of the plaques for my brooches. I love all the ideas she shares and love that I have found someone who thinks outside the box! This brooch is my take on her idea. I have added a couple to my store. We'll see how they do.
Now I'm off to go create some more, I have a few craft sales to go before the season is done and, I also have to finish my gift making for my own family and friends. Hopefully, I can keep up the pace and be done in time to go out an enjoy a bit of the beautfiful days we are having this fall!
Tonight I will start looking through our decorations, it's almost time to get them out, I can't wait to see my little house looking all warm and cozy and ready for entertaining!
Cheers!

Playing with Images and Digital Stamping
I have become obsessed with making vintage images and ephemera into digital stamps. I've been trying to keep it simple, but am still working on figuring out how to make them so that you can dowload them and use them in your projects. I will post this one, please try it out and give me feedback. I want to know wether this format works or whether I should try something different.
Cheers and happy stamping!

Halloween Spookiness....Woooooohhhh!
We'll get to the creepy stuff, but first, about my son's costume.
My son David has a couple obsessions, Starwars and Transformers. This halloween he wanted to dress up as either Anakin or as Bumblebee, and since I'm always up for a challenge, we decided on Bumblebee. I took old hockey equipment, elbowpads and a pair of yellow rubber boots, and voila! A little bit of yellow spray paint and a lot of yellow duct tape later, we had the costume he was wanting (all his life, accoding to him!), the mask was store bought though.
Shooting with his plasma canonn!
Patiently waiting to go trick or treating with his frinds Evie and Eric.
Now for the spooky stuff. I'm not a real believer in ghosts, I think the mind and eyes can play a trick on people, and until I see one .....
Anyhow, to make a long story short, I nearly fainted when I took a closer look at some pictures I snapped at our little halloween get together.
Above my brother's head (Cheech), on the glass of the painting behind him, appeared an image of man. Looking closely, it didn't resemble anyone in our house that day, even with halloween costumes and all.
I was freaked out at the image and at the idea of there being a ghost in my house. Did I actually capture a ghost in my picture, how creepy!!
This is the close up. Eerie, isn't it??
So upon a closer look at ALL the pictres, I did manage to debunk my own thoeory of it being a ghost caught on camera. As it turns out, the image is a reflection of the TV. My brother's were watching the hockey game, of which you can see a reflection of on the glass in this picture, thus rendering my whole idea of a ghost invalid. The image was actually from the TV, I'm thinking a commercial for the Tudors or soemthing like that, which is on CBC, same channel as the hockey game.
Unfortunately, that still does not explain the orbs that appear in the picture below....maybe there is still a chance at a ghost someday???
